Hair Loss Diagnosis & Treatment
A thorough evaluation of why you're losing hair, followed by a treatment plan matched to your stage and cause -- not a one-size-fits-all prescription.

Just starting to notice hair loss?
Catching hair loss early gives medical treatment the best chance of slowing or stabilizing it before it progresses further. An evaluation identifies the type and likely cause of your hair loss and the treatment options most likely to help at this stage.
Hair loss has been progressing for a while?
If you've been losing hair for months or years, we'll assess how advanced it is, what's realistically achievable with treatment now, and whether medical therapy or hair transplantation should be part of your plan.
Hair loss has many possible causes — genetic pattern hair loss, nutritional deficiencies, thyroid or hormonal imbalances, stress-related shedding, scalp conditions, and more — and the right treatment depends entirely on identifying which of these is driving your specific case. Treating pattern hair loss and treating deficiency-related shedding look very different, which is why a proper evaluation matters more than reaching for a generic hair-fall shampoo or supplement.
Some hair loss is a normal, temporary response to stress, illness, or hormonal changes and resolves on its own. Other forms are progressive and benefit significantly from early medical intervention. Distinguishing between the two — and catching progressive hair loss early — is where an evaluation adds the most value.
What to Expect at Your Visit
Your first visit includes a scalp examination, a hair pull test to assess active shedding, and a detailed history covering the onset and pattern of your hair loss, family history, diet, stress levels, and any recent illness or medication changes. Where an underlying medical cause is suspected — such as thyroid dysfunction, iron deficiency, or another hormonal factor — we may recommend blood investigations to confirm it before starting treatment.
This evaluation determines not just that you’re losing hair, but why, which shapes everything that follows.
Treatment Approach
For genetic pattern hair loss, evidence-based topical and oral medical therapy remains the foundation of treatment, often started as early as possible to slow further miniaturization of hair follicles. For hair loss driven by an underlying deficiency or medical condition, correcting that underlying cause is addressed alongside or before hair-specific treatment.
Where initial medical therapy isn’t providing enough improvement, treatment is reviewed and adjusted — this may mean a change in regimen, addition of a complementary medical treatment, or, for patients with stable, advanced loss and little realistic prospect of further improvement through medical therapy alone, a discussion of hair transplantation.
Setting Realistic Expectations
Hair loss treatment, in almost every form, works to slow progression and support existing hair rather than instantly reversing years of loss. We are upfront about what a given treatment can and cannot achieve for your specific pattern and stage of hair loss, and we build a plan around realistic, honest expectations rather than promises no treatment can actually keep.
How We Evaluate
- Scalp examination and hair pull test
- Pattern and stage assessment (Norwood/Ludwig scale)
- Relevant blood investigations where an underlying cause is suspected
Treatment Options
- Topical & Oral Medical Therapy: Evidence-based medications to slow hair loss progression and, in many cases, support regrowth of miniaturizing hair.
- Medical Management: A structured medical treatment plan matched to the underlying cause, reviewed and adjusted over time to track your response.
- Hair Transplant Referral: For patients with stable, advanced loss and adequate donor supply, surgical restoration through FUE hair transplantation.
